India is a country of 134 crore people. With a big divide in the rich and poor, about 100 lakh people die from hunger or hunger-related diseases every year and more than 20 crores will sleep without food tonight. At the same time, we waste food worth Rs. 244 crore every day. So do the math yourself. If somehow we save and channel one-third of wasted food to the poor and homeless we can ensure all of them can sleep with their bellies full. We have to demand the government to form a body that regulates, controls or manages food wastage and channels them to the needy.
