Petition updateRepeal the 7% Online Tax NOW!!!Fifty thousand items expected to increase in price directly because of this tax
Stand UP T&T

Oct 14, 2016
Many may not be aware of the potential impact of this innocent sounding online tax on inflation. Most people rely on small business providers, sellers, service agents, technicians, repair people, doctors, dentists, lawyers, anyone in any capacity that relies on the provision of their stock in trade via air couriers will find themselves in a position where they have to pass on this new cost of doing business to you, the consumer.
An air-condition repair man tells of how all his tools and service manuals are flown in, as are circuit boards and other parts.
He worries that his ability to function will go up by seven percent, and his costs will be further compounded by the addition of the seven percent on parts, adding almost fifteen percent to the thirty percent duty and the fifteen percent VAT, taking the price up by almost one hundred percent for no reason, and making him no longer competitive with the big price suppliers who will now have to increase their prices to absorb the businesses of smaller providers as this tax drags them under.
We need to be aware of the impact of these costs on the supermarket and pharmacy shelves that get almost half their inventory from small suppliers who do online stocking and airfreight.
Your grocery bill will be severely impacted at a time when subsides have been cut and the price of fuel has been raised, just in time to meet the surprise whammy of an additional ten to fifteen thousand dollars property tax that could wipe many on fixed incomes out.
What if a relative falls sick and needs medication? What if your vehicle, essential for your trade, needs a part?
The government has hoodwinked the people into believing that the only people being negatively affected here are the people buying clothes and make up online but that is untrue.
Vanity and personal purchases make up less than seven percent of the total spend online that are shipped via air, and the remaining whopping ninety three percent are the suppliers of the things that go to make up your life.
In cases where the compound taxation reaches the top end of 24.7% added to the duty and VAT costs, who is going to pay that?
The Minister of Finance?
Who brings in his necessities in suitcases on trips paid for by the state? By you?
We need to wake up and stand up and demand that this tax be repealed and withdrawn.
Do not be distracted by sensational nonsense in the news. These people are about to grab you by the wallet without your permission.
You must stand up and say NO!
We have created a petition that will be printed and served on the Minister of Finance on the day his tax is supposed to be unleashed on an unsuspecting public.
We ask you to sign that petition and to get everyone you know to sign it as well.
It is also our intention to provide a list of fifty thousand consumer items expected to increase in price from ten to fifty percent because of this tax, and to write the Parliament demanding of all forty other Members to call the Minister of Finance to order.
Democracy works best when we all stand together. Stand for this. Stand against onerous usurious taxation. Join with us as we work to have this tax repealed or the Minister removed.
British Prime Minister Winston Churchill said - "I contend that for a nation to try to tax itself into prosperity is like a man standing in a bucket and trying to lift himself up."
Insist that the government find other ways to increase their earnings other than in the pockets of the poor and the middle class.
Join us as we insist that this advantageous tax be withdrawn.
