(ACPT), As many of you know, ACPT has been spearheading a drive to convince both the City and the State Department of Transportation (DOT) to extend the E-branch of the Green Line to Hyde Square in Jamaica Plain, Boston’s “Latin Quarter.” The benefits of the extension are broadly seen as increasing transportation options to a socioeconomically diverse neighborhood, enhancing economic vitality to our neighborhoods, improving access to and from Jamaica Plain without increasing the influx of automobiles, and meeting the needs of commuters as the City increases housing along the South Huntington Avenue corridor. In addition to providing modern and efficient transit, the extension includes a “complete streets” design. The design improves not only transit access, but also bicycle and pedestrian safety with the establishment of protected bicycle “cycle tracks” along South Huntington Avenue and pedestrian amenities at intersections along the avenue. To date we have obtained support from all four City Councilors-at-Large, our district Councilor Matt O’Malley, the Hyde Square Task Force, leading merchants in Hyde Square, and a number of health care institutions along South Huntington Avenue. We would like to enlist your support as a member of the Arborway Committee for Public Transit for 2017. We hope that you will contribute to our efforts to bring a modern, safe, and efficient new transportation resources to our city. Please note that the ACPT has received exemption from taxation under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Donations are deductible from federal income tax to the extent of the current IRS regulation. Your membership contribution and any additional donations are 100% tax deductible. We would like to keep our members and supporters informed about events related to improving transportation in Jamaica Plain’s Arborway corridor. Please e-mail us your questions and comments at: arborway.committee@gmail.com. You may also check our website: www.arborway.org. Please accept our gratitude for becoming a member and donor to ACPT. Your support will help us work towards bringing improved transit to Jamaica Plain. Sincerely yours, Franklyn P. Salimbene, Chair The Arborway Committee for Public Transit, Inc.
