We kindly ask you to request that Bucharest and Romania manages their stray dog population in a humane manner: to practice neuter - not murder, to stop the barbaric capture of dogs, and to provide decent conditions, food and water in public shelters.

Lord Mayor, are you so proud of London now? Do you know what is happening in London's twin City of Bucharest?
Authorities in Romania, and particularly Bucharest are not managing the stray dog population in a humane manner. Dogs are abused, captured, and killed by tortuous means which are truly sickening to the whole world watching. Almost daily, video and photographic evidence shows appalling treatment of dogs, particularly by ASPA dog catchers in Bucharest. Whilst the world watches, this inhumane treatment continues. Dog lovers have their human rights abused as Romania breaches Article 8 of the European Convention on Human Rights.
In Europe today, no country should be allowed to treat dogs in such an appalling and disgusting manner, and whilst this continues in Bucharest, London should suspend its twin city status.
