Naturally Pure NZ's SpringFresh bottled water ad and its bottle labels should represent what is clean and pure, rather than display aerosol trails, which evidence shows are comprised of heavy metals and thus harmful to human health and the environment.

The issue

We object to Naturally Pure NZ's use of the current advertising and label graphics for SpringFresh, which show mountains, a lake and a blue sky obscured by aerosol trails dispersing in it.

We believe that the use of these images is inappropriate for a company marketing a product that is supposed to be clean and pure, as evidence shows aerosol trails commonly contain the toxins aluminium, barium and strontium amongst others,.  These heavy metals are harmful to human health and to the environment.

Aerosol trails are also having a detrimental effect on our weather and they must be acknowledged as a real phenomenon, rather than portrayed as natural on labels which state "pure."

Aerosol particles act as cloud condensation nuclei and when there are too many of these nuclei, rain droplets can not become big enough to  fall as rain and the moisture is carried away elsewhere.

Numerous aerosol trails, like the ones on your labels, have been seen in recent years around New Zealand and evidence suggests that these may have contributed towards the severity of drought conditions in New Zealand over the last 5 or so years.  (Refer:  'Air Pollution Stops Rain.')

(2012):  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mEfJO0-cTis.

In light of available evidence, we urge Naturally Pure NZ to use images on ads and labels that show a clear blue sky or a sky with natural fluffy clouds, rather than pictures with trails of the kind we have seen being emitted from aircraft,  which insult those of us who are aware of what they represent.

Thank-you for your time.
