The proposed plans to expand the Tesco store in Weston village High Street will certainly increase the amount of traffic going through the village, which will be detrimental to the local residential area.

The plan to reduce the customer car park area will cause problems as Tesco employees may need to find off-site parking along the surrounding residential streets. This will consequently cause disruption to the local residents and may result in the need for permit parking restrictions to be put in place which will mean more expense for the residents.

The expansion of the Tesco store will also lead to the closure of 2 existing businesses - The Golden Bowl Chinese Take-Away and Right At Your Feet Flooring LTD. A bigger Tesco store will have a negative impact on other surrounding local businesses such as the newsagents, the green grocers and the off-licence.

The local committee has already started a petition to oppose these plans and meetings are underway to discuss the issue with the local residents and the developers.
