We all know Lego. The interlocking bricks are extremely popular. Everyone knows about them. I personally love them, but what I don’t love is all the plastic. Legos are made of plastic, and they come in plastic bags. Whenever you build something out of legos, you waste a lot of plastic. You have no use for the bags afterwards, so what do you do? Throw it away. This causes a lot of unnecessary waste. Many many people purchase and enjoy Legos. 125 plastic Lego bricks are produced everyday. There are an average of 80 Lego bricks per person on the Earth. Around the world, 7 Lego sets are sold every second. That comes out to 604,800 sets a day. Each of those sets has at least 1 bag in it. That is an  astounding amount of plastic. The most ideal scenario would be for Lego to switch entirely to biodegradable plastics, but then the bricks wouldn’t last for long. They can make a start with helping the environment. If Lego switches from plastic bags to paper bags to hold the legos inside of the boxes, imaging how much waste will be saved. The bags could be recycled, reused, or even thrown away, and still be batter for the environment compared to the horrible plastic bags. They are biodegradable and an be recycled, it’s a win-win!
