The Last Straw: Ban plastic straws from London businesses

The Last Straw: Ban plastic straws from London businesses
The Issue
The London Evening Standard is calling on all food and drink businesses across the capital to ban plastic straws or draw up plans to phase them out by the end of 2018.
By signing our petition, you will help demonstrate the strength of feeling in London against this wasteful and avoidable use of plastic and bring about permanent change.
London is the plastic straw capital of Europe with two billion plastic straws used every year. Each straw takes minutes to use and around 500 years to degrade.
Crucially, unlike other plastics, there are easy alternatives available — paper straws, corn syrup ones, even bamboo straws.
It’s easy to do, by simply taking the Last Straw Pledge, these companies will be playing their part in tackling London’s ever-growing waste problem.
Please sign our petition calling on London food and drink businesses to ditch plastic straws.
