The Issue

The Catalyst group has withdrawn their request to build a multi-story apartment building complex on the land at 1221 Liberty Pike. The project will no longer be pursued. I want to thank everyone who participated in this process to oppose this development and worked to preserve our neighborhood and rural environment.

They withdrew it because of the strong opposition they received from our Aldermen with concerns surrounding the implications of building housing so close to a sub-station and the impact on people.  As well as the letters of opposition that brought up multiple additional issues. As well as a petition signed by almost 600 people.  Thank you for your voice, your participation and your civic engagement.

“The Planning Commission and Board of Mayor and Aldermen need to hear from area residents and receive reasonable arguments as to why they should or should not approve this proposed change to Envision Franklin and the zoning designation. I have to ask: would any of us live that close to a major electrical substation? I think not, so why would we expect our workforce (police, fire personnel, teachers, county and city employees and service employees) to live there? Appreciate the interest from our citizens. Alderman Bev Burger, Ward 1, City of Franklin, TN”
