Our beloved Mizzou Hockey Club, a source of pride for our community and a haven for youth and adult players alike, currently has to travel a grueling 45 minutes to Washington Park in Jefferson City for every practice and game. This situation is not only time-consuming but also costly and unsustainable, impacting the players and their families both financially and emotionally.
Columbia is a growing city with a vibrant community that supports and celebrates sports in all forms. Yet, without a dedicated ice hockey arena, our residents miss out on the joy and benefits that come with easy access to such facilities. Schools, clubs, and recreational groups cannot fully explore or develop hockey without local resources to support them.
Building a hockey arena in Columbia would provide numerous benefits. It would make the sport accessible to more people, fostering local talent and team spirit.
