The Judiciary, our saving grace

The Issue

There are three basic branches of government: excutive, legislative, and judicial. Each serves it's own purpose. The judiciary is supposed to be the most protective of our rights and freedoms from the overpowering of the other two. There is one systemic issue that is destroying our country more than incompetence and ignorance. It is that the judiciary (federal, state, and local) are all partisan still. Some places elect these positions and others are hand picked by the executive and then approved by the legislative. A common problem is when the executive and legislative are both the same party so a vacant judge is replaced with the same party. So this is what I propose: remove party labels for any prospective judge, what ever method is being used to pick them. As a secondary step, anyone in a leadership position in the Department of Justice (police and intelligence agencies) and the Department of Defense (mainly military), should also have to forgo party affiliations while in office. This will make us as a society consider skill, experience, and work history. ANYONE applying for a job (especially a lifetime appointment) should be considered on these basic requirements.
