Dear All, In large part due to the efforts of the Koreans, Japan was forced to include a statement on the forced labor that took place at a number of major industrial sites, which they wanted to turn into UNESCO World Heritage Sites. UNESCO said the following in a statement: “Japan is prepared to take measures that allow an understanding that there were a large number of Koreans and others who were brought against their will and forced to work under harsh conditions in the 1940s at some of the sites.” Japan's attempt to whitewash this history by not including the mention of forced labor has hereby failed. Continue to speak out and support The Indo Project (www.theindoproject.org), so that your family's suffering and victimization is included in world history and recognized by Japan! Thank you for your help!
