Schools Equality PACT
25 sept. 2015
Thank you for signing Atheist Ireland’s Schools Equality PACT. We now have more than two thousand online supporters, as well as offline support among many parents and activists who care about ending religious discrimination in a holistic way. Now we have another favour to ask you. Can you please today contact any of your friends or colleagues who might want to see the PACT reforms introduced, and ask them to sign the petition? If everyone who has signed can get four more to sign, we would have over ten thousand signatures. It’s important to promote the Schools PACT reforms now for several reasons: the Oireachtas is returning, Irish Civil Society groups are lobbying the United Nations Human Rights Council who will be questioning Ireland next year about our human rights record, and Atheist Ireland is attending an OSCE human rights conference in Warsaw next week at which we will be raising the Schools Equality PACT with representatives of many western Governments. The Irish Government claims that they are constitutionally obliged to allow this religious discrimination to continue. We've published the article linked below that shows that many reputable bodies do not agree with this position. So please contact as many of your friends as you can today, by email, Facebook Twitter or in real life, and ask them to sign the Schools Equality PACT. Please also contact your local TDs and ask them to support the PACT. We’ve made huge progress in the past five years in bringing Schools Equality up the political agenda. Let’s keep it at the top of the agenda until we get equality for everyone. Thanks again for your involvement in this important campaign.
