Ballroom is one of the oldest and most complex dance disciplines. With the rising popularity of official competitions such as the Crystal Palace Cup, ballroom dancing is becoming more and more celebrated.

World famous for its unique sprung dance floor and spectacular architecture, The Blackpool Tower Ballroom remains to this day a destination for dance fans from across the globe. 

The Blackpool Tower Ballroom has launched an official petition to persuade Olympic chiefs to incorporate it into the world’s biggest sport competition for 2020. After years of campaigning to get ballroom officially classed as a sport, it is now recognised by the International Olympic Committee as ‘dancesport’. However we are still a long way from it becoming an official medal sport.

Ballroom dancing is athletic and technical, teaching discipline and requiring hard work, dedication and training – fitting perfectly with the Olympic ethos. Please sign the petition to support us and help bring the tango and waltz to the biggest sporting competition in the world.
