IB Exams Retake Students Must Receive their Grades by the 5th of July as Everyone Else
Il problema
On the 27th of March 2020, the International Baccalaureate Organization released a statement outlining how each student registered for the May 2020 IB Examinations (which will no longer be held) would be awarded their IB diploma or certificate.
According to their statement, retake students will not be treated equally to students sitting their exams for the first time. They are only given two choices: completely withdraw from the exams or sit the November 2020 IB Exams. This makes it impossible for all retake students who registered to retake their exams in order to achieve the grades needed to meet the requirements of their universities of choice, to do so. Consequently, not only will their year of hard work be completely ignored by the IBO, but they will not be able to proceed with their academic career. In fact, as lessons at universities begin in September, in almost every country worldwide, it would make it impossible for retake students to be accepted into their universities of choice, or any university at all, as results of November Examinations are issued in January of the following year. For these reasons, we urge the IBO to find another method through which retake students can be assessed and be provided with their grades (by the deadline indicated by universities) and necessary documentation to be accepted into university and proceed with their academic careers. This may include allowing retake students to demonstrate their progress by submitting new Internal Assessments for each of the subjects they applied to re-sit.
