The Border Force Act, section 42 Secrecy provisions, denies healthcare professionals, teachers and welfare workers the ability to fulfill their duty of care to report incidents of abuse and of deficient, inadequate or unfair treatment of asylum seekers detained in immigration detention. 

The government has made a deliberate and measured action to oppose a workers right to advocate for vulnerable and voiceless people. That action is irreconcilable with professional duty of care and with moral and ethical practice.

By signing this petition we can show the government the importance of working with dignity and humanity. We acknowledge the significance of professional legal, ethical and moral obligations and recognise professional duty of care.

Australians often have a collective view, we are a fair and just nation, we now need to prove that to be true.
