With consideration, we have made the decision to keep this petition active till June 20th, 2022. Our intension is to reach more signatures as we approach World Refugee Day. 

The situation in Afghanistan continues to deteriorate: with over 13,000 children having died from malnutrition since the start of 2022. In the past two days over 47 civilian casualties have resulted from Pakistani airstrikes in two Afghan provinces. Education has been disallowed for girls per March 23rd 2022, when the re-opening of schools to girls was u-turned by the Taliban. 

Canada's pledge to bring 40, 000 Afghan refugees has fallen short, with only 8,580 having made it to Canadian soil. The lack of mobilization by the Canadian government and the dire circumstances in Afghanistan require actions such as this petition to push for change. 

As such, we encourage you to continue to spread this petition and lend your voice to this cause.
