Thank you for supporting this petition. While the state of our world continues to become less stable we give gratitude to each individual who has provided a signature and shared in our efforts to call for action and bring changes to the Canadian Afghan Sponsorship Programs:
(1) remove the language assessment requirement (IELTS) for Skilled Workers Category Sponsorship Program; (2) remove condition of Refugee Status Determination document for community/ group of 5 sponsorship program.
Please refer to the original petition for details and how these changes will facilitate the safe evacuation of highly vulnerable Afghan refugees.
While the media coverage of Afghanistan has significantly reduced, the state of the country and the its citizens continues to deteriorate. The Taliban have not kept their promise to allow girls and women access to education and work. The economic collapse has resulted in soaring unemployment, with 1 in 3 people having acute food insecurity, and 1 million children expected to die from malnutrition by the end of year 2022.
We ask that you continue to share this petition with those around you in order to help us achieve the goal of 1500 signatures by April 29th, 2022. In addition, due to changes within the Canadian Parliament this petition is now directed to the Honourable Sean Fraser, MP (Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship).
Once again, thank you.
