There is a desperate need to fund research into brain cancer as it is practically a death sentence if you are diagnosed with it, especially glioblastoma multiforme (GBM). There has been hardly any change in the survival statistics in over 30 years. The only way that we can change this is by investing in research and clinical trials. Australia has some outstanding researchers but they need to be supported to get their research into the clinic. Brain cancer kills more children than any other disease and is the number 1 cancer killer for people under the age of 40. Out of all cancers it has the most life years lost because it kills more young people then any other cancer. Brain cancer costs more per person than any other cancer, yet only receives a small fraction of federal government cancer research funding. 

Brain Tumours kill more young people than any other cancer! I'm talking toddlers,infants,pre-schoolers,young children not yet reached their teens,teenagers not yet on their L plates,Young adults not given the chance to travel,marry or meet their soul mate,adults not yet had children,mums,dads,aunts,uncles,cousins, this horrid disease takes away what we all take for granted. Our life.
In many homes  this Christmas day there will be empty seats at Xmas lunch, a seat taken by a brain tumour.
