Protect our children, relocate Curtis O’Brien from 1212 Center St

The Issue

On July 9, 2020 it was brought to the community of Black Earth’s attention that Curtis O’Brien, a 26 year old male was released from the Dane County jail and allowed to live with his father at 1212 Center St, Black Earth. Bail was set at $500 per case, which was posted and O’Brien was able to be released due to the Covid pandemic. This address is directly across from our  4K-2nd grade elementary school. O’Brien was incarcerated with (3) charges of sexual assault in the first degree of a minor. The victim is a six year old girl residing in a neighboring community. He had previously been convicted of other crimes including theft of vehicles and charges involving firearms. O’Brien has the reputation in the community to stare and watch children as they play. He is also known for theft. Several community members have had encounters of him sitting in front of homes and watching their families, refusing to leave. As a mother of young girls I am hoping to gain support using this petition to force him to relocate to a area that is not near our schools or parks. As a community we need to come together to ensure the safety of our children. This petition will be presented to the Honorable Susan Crawford at the Dane County Courthouse who is in charge of this case. Your support is greatly appreciated.
