Justice for the Raggett family of Borroloola on the suspicious death of their 8 year old son, Kaye Raggett in October 2007

The issue

To address the disparity of the value of lives between indigenous and non-indigenous children. The Raggett family need closure. The NT police investigating Kaye's death botched the investigation and got rid of valuable evidence. There were suspicious circumstances at the time that should have alerted the police to foul play, instead they threw away the evidence and ignored all the signs that showed there was another person involved, and wrote his death off as 'accidental'.  Why?  Because he was an Indigenous child. This whole incident reeks of gross negligence and discrimination.  The Raggett family need closure, just as Daniel Morcombe's family are getting closure now.  Just saying 'Sorry' for past injustices does not cut it!! We need to know that our current government are serious about closing the gap and taking action to prove it.  The perpetrator of this heinous crime is still at large in the community of Borroloola, free to continue to commit crimes against children of that community.  7 years is a long time to wait for closure, Mr Scullion.  Please don't ignore the plight of the Raggett family.   Our hearts go out to them.  Grateful thanks to ABC Four Corners for highlighting this issue on Monday 24 Feb 2014,  otherwise none of us would have known about it.
