25 acres (approx) of beautiful trees and pasture in Bittern is being bulldozed to make way for hundreds of retirement village units. Don’t stand by and allow this to happen!
Foreign investors have purchased the property located at 2390 Frankston-Flinders Road Bittern and are preparing to turn one of our precious ‘green spaces’ into a housing area. A beautiful open space with mature trees and grassland is being turned into a privately-owned, money making venture that will begin turning leafy Bittern into a high-density housing lot that is not in keeping with the semi-rural character of the town.
The township of Bittern, on the Mornington Peninsula, is known for its peaceful bushy surroundings. It is home to Warringine Park and the heritage-listed Bittern Coastal Wetlands. These reserves have several plant and animal species that are recognised as significant to the state of Victoria. The many ‘green spaces’ contained in the Low Density Residential Zone of Bittern provide further habitat for the unique and varied flora and fauna found in these reserves.
This 25 acre 'green space' earmarked for a ‘Lifestyles’ retirement village is zoned as Low Density Residential, and yet, it is being torn apart for high-density housing. Do not allow this dangerous precedent to be set!
