Dear Supporters, **NO BUS LAYOVER FOR CASTLE STREET** As you are aware in June this year we advised the community about of the draft proposal from Transport NSW to relocate the Castle Hill bus layover to Castle Street. Castle Hill High School together with other stakeholders in the area were vehemently opposed to this idea and we made it our mission to raise awareness of this issue far and wide and at the highest levels. Our various petitions gathered over 2000 signatures in total. We am extremely pleased to report that we have now received confirmation from Sydney Metro and Transport for NSW - Castle St WILL NOT be used as a bus layover zone. Quote: 'Sydney Metro and Transport for NSW has considered community feedback as part of the process for selecting layover locations, including the option for Castle Street. Sydney Metro and Transport for NSW have determined that Castle Street is not required for relocating bus layover from the interchange during the construction of Castle Hill Station. We are finalising arrangements with bus operators to accommodate this layover requirement at their depots, and within the Castle Hill town centre.’ This is great news and a very welcome result. We would like to acknowledge the time and effort given by former Hills Shire Councillor, Jeff Lowe , and Elizabeth V, the year 7 student who started her own petition for students which gathered nearly 1000 signatures, and once again Principal Vicki Brewer and her Executive team for championing the school and fighting for the safety of our students. Ms Brewer delivered a very eloquent and well received address at a recent Council meeting, which was met with full support from all Councillors present. Thank you to all the members of the community who supported us. Once again this is an example of the school and P&C working together to achieve remarkable results.
