Save the Historic Regency Ballroom (SF)

The Regency Ballroom is a 112 year old gorgeous historic arts venue. The only thing that compares to it is the Opera House. The woodwork, stages, and general historic nature of the building are all irreplaceable. It has one of the oldest (or the oldest?) working elevators in San Francisco, built in 1909 and in itself a work of art.
It provides an essential venue for countless music events and spectacular cultural events such as the Edwardian Ball, which in that space is like nothing anywhere in the world.
Now it is up for sale with an open invitation to gut it and turn it into condos or office spaces (both of which are selling horribly right now and are in low demand).
We can't let this amazing piece of San Francisco history be ripped out of our community. San Francisco is a world tourist destination precisely because of spaces and buildings like this. Don't let it be destroyed for some developer's quick buck. If developers want condos and office spaces they can build new buildings. Spaces like this are too precious to be gutted like that.
