Open the Hector MacDonald Monument to the Public

After almost three years of inactivity it is NOW TIME for the Highland Council to engage with local business, community and political leaders to open the Sir Hector MacDonald Monument above Dingwall for the benefit of the people and the local economy.

So far the council has failed to take seriously our efforts and proposals to reopen the monument and it is time we took some definite action so that current and future generations can benefit from our rich history as well as enjoy some of the best views anywhere of our beautiful country.

The time for excuses has passed, speaking as a community we have been let down far too often by officials at the Highland Council and it is well past time that it stops.

Due to some spurious bureaucratic health and safety claims that we know to be untrue as professionals in the field we want the council to look at what it has done:
– Prevent the public from enjoying a public monument for years without good reason
– Prevent people from paying their respects to ‘Fighting Mac’
– Prevent the possibility of some Tourist activity and additional income to the town

– And prevent the opening of a much needed attraction to a local market town

Please share this petition and help us to get this message to Mr William Gilfillan and the rest of the leaders in the Highland Council

Thank you.
