The high costs of Insulin are ludicrous and deadly. STAND UNITED FOR A CHANGE
Research shows that many US diabetics are facing The Great Diabetic Crisis, due to the high costs many diabetics have to make choices like paying for their insulin or do they pay for their housing & food... As distressing as the facts are, research continues to show that many American diabetics have ended up frequently hospitalized or even lost their lives due to the need to ration or completely omit doses because of the inflated cost of insulin (ADA) Which has been proven by the statistics of diabetics rationing their insulin indicated through further collegiate research. As stated, “A Yale University study finds one in four diabetics cuts back on their insulin because of cost. Mostly middle-class Americans with limited insurance putting themselves at great risk” (Holt and Castello 00:22:23). This statistic is honestly sickening. Argumentatively, yes, for some things in this world one in four isn’t a terrible statistic. But when you look at the fact these are lives that are calculated in this statistic, one in four is unacceptable.
There are many causes and groups out there standing for a change. So, use your voice, sign this petition and stand with them. The costs of insulin and supplies MUST BE CHANGED.
I am a T1D, and I have personally found the need to ration my own insulin and reduce other diabetic care needs. Only to end up with further complications and medical bills that had me drowning. While my personal situation isn't as good as it could be, yet. This isn't about me. This is for every Diabetic out there; your family and loved ones, your coworkers, the cashier at the grocery store, and yes maybe this is even for you. To which I am truly sorry; as I know the financial and living/personal costs of Diabetes firsthand; that you are facing these struggles. You are not alone. And together we can make a change. But to do so, we need to make a stand. We need to keep pushing this issue at those who have control of the costs we are faced with.
