Reopen Internet Sweepstakes Cafes in Cuyahoga County, OH

The Issue

Internet sweepstakes cafes should be allowed to remain open for the following reasons:

1. They Create Jobs - In the state of Ohio, as in all other states, there is a need to create jobs. Jobs are being created by the small business man and woman. In 2006, an article in Businessweek showed that 82.9% of U.S. employment was in businesses with less than 500 employees.
2. They Generate Tax Revenue - Each Internet sweepstakes cafe pays taxes. Each employee of an Internet sweepstakes cafe pays taxes. Every time an employee of an Internet sweepstakes cafe spends money earned at their job, sales tax revenue is generated.
3. They Build A Sense of Community - As a culture of regular customers become familiar and friendly with each other, they begin to schedule their social lives around meeting at Internet sweepstakes cafes. We take pride in the fact that Internet sweepstakes cafes fill a need that is missing from the lives of some of our customers.
