Recognize competitive robotics as a VARSITY SPORT.

The Issue

We believe that competitive robotics, such as the FIRST Robotics Competition and FIRST Tech Challenge should be recognized by the State of Georgia and the Georgia High School Athletics Association as a VARSITY SPORT, with the same rights, privileges, and funding as traditional athletics. We believe the hands-on problem solving, team building, and hard work that students experience while designing and building a robot are as beneficial as those of traditional athletics. Furthermore, we believe that competitive robotics can inspire students to pursue careers in STEM related fields vital to the future economic growth of our state.
