As a long term cat rescuer, I have seen so many unwanted or lost Cats and Dogs be euthanized at no fault of there own. Over 250, 000+ pets are euthanized across Australia every year. The Government has the power to stop this cruelty but refuse to listen to ideas that could save lives and lesson lives that are taken each day, week and Monthly. Make it mandatory across Australia to have all pets desexed, microchipped, vaccinated and registrated before pets are homed. Put a legislation that as a pet owner, the owner must keep the pet its entire life, unless circumstances that arise where the pet is unable to stay with it's family members (old age, illness or moving oversea). 30 years euthanasia has gone on, lets make the next 30 years count, by saving lives. They know what's going to happen to them if they aren't adopted or rescued, death is there punishment for human error. Get rescue teams involved by educating the normal Australian person. Most of all if every Australian payed a $5.00 tax each Month we could achieve our goal and lives would be saved, making Australian's the most humanity country. We need change and we need it now.
