This is a petition to allow the use of .177 air guns with rifled barrels in Trinidad & Tobago without a Firearms Users License(F.U.L.). Currently, Trinbagonians are allowed to keep only smooth bore air guns of .177 caliber or lower without an F.U.L. As a direct result of this. the citizens of Trinidad & Tobago have been held to ransom by a specific sector of business entities that capitalize on legislation that classifies air rifles of .177 caliber with rifled barrels as firearms, by charging exorbitant prices for equipment that are fitted with barrels that are regarded as substandard by sportsmen and sportswomen and manufacturers standards around the world.

With a change in this legislation and a reclassification of air guns of .177 caliber with rifled barrels as not being firearms we can effectively move forward with truly promoting the sport of air rifle shooting, and our sportsmen and sportswomen will finally be able to proceed to strive for and achieve excellence in their chosen disciplines within the various air gun sporting categories.
