But there isn't much to celebrate: elephants are among the most abused creatures on earth. Every single day, hundreds of thousands endure lives of unending misery and hardship in horrific logging camps, temples, zoos, circuses and so-called "tourist attractions" around the world. And it seems not a day goes by without reports of massacres in Africa. These horrendous practices aren't going to stop on their own -- we must actively do what we can to help. Speak out and sign petitions against cruelty, avoid ANY venue where enslaved elephants are to be found and tell your friends who travel to do the same.
