First, the good news. Gluay Hom is no longer in the hellhole of Samut Prakan but enjoying the first day of the rest of his new life at Elephant Nature Park in Thailand. The bad news is that the Thai authorities had nothing to do with making this happen -- Gluay Hom's freedom from abuse and neglect was purchased by three charitable organizations from outside Thailand-- The Greater Goods, Abraham Foundation and Trunk Up New York. Moreover, other starving, abused and terrified elephants, tigers and other enslaved animals continue to be forced to entertain tourists at Samut Prakan and at other so-called "zoos" all across Thailand and South East Asia. And there is absolutely nothing to stop Uthen Youngprapakorn who is solely responsible for the horrific condition of Gluay Hom, to use the blood money he has been paid for allowing Gluay Hom to be to be "rescued" to buy and abuse more innocent creatures. So enjoy the video and story of a liberated Gluay Hom below-- but please don't stop spreading the word that anyone who patronizes any facility that uses animals as entertainment is an active accomplice in their abuse. And that countries like Thailand that turn a blind eye to such abuse should be avoided at all costs. The rescue of Gluay Hom is one battle won -- but the war must go on.

Gluay Hom arrived at ENP early this morning, taking 14 hours for the journey. He was so patient, cooperating well with new intrusions into his personal space. His appetite has no failing, eating heartily throughout the whole trip. Darrick spent the entire time in his company, establishing a reciprocity.

His new home is quite large, and no doubt daunting to the boy. He will live in a quarantined area for awhile, before venturing out into the larger Park area and the river. Later, we will introduce to him potential nannies.
