We urge South Korean President Park Geun-hye to step down and hold responsibility for the rescue operations of the sunken ferry Sewol.

The Issue

The acts of the government angers us so much and here we choose to appeal with tears. The government is lying, kicking the responsibility to others, and using its power to censor media.

During 6 days after the accident, the government kept lying and hiding about rescuing activities and didn't get any help from civilian divers nor other countries who offered to help, including the United States. They continuously use mass media to portray a "rescue effort by 500 divers" when the actual families who are present at the scene disclose their frustration by crying to the public for "no rescue efforts going on."

The government should have had a better disaster response system and more effective rescue operation sytstem in place and more closely regulated the shipping industry to prevent accidents such as this.

The President, Park has violated the Constitution of the Republic of Korea, Article 69. We urge her to step down and hold responsibility for the rescue operations of the sunken ferry Sewol.

-The Constitution of the Republic of Korea, Article 69
The President, at the time of his inauguration, takes the following oath:
"I do solemnly swear before the people that I will faithfully execute the duties of the President by observing the Constitution, defending the State, pursuing the peaceful unification of the homeland, promoting the freedom and welfare of the people, and endeavoring to develop national culture."
