“Quebec has established its own unique approach to child care provision and services – one that has greater availability and affordability than most of the rest of Canada,” (Child Resource and Research Unit and the Canadian Union of Postal Workers, n.d.). “A significant amount of public funding has been provided so regulated child care centres and family day homes provide spaces at a flat parent fee of $7/day for infants through school-age children,” (Child Resource and Research Unit and the Canadian Union of Postal Workers, n.d.).

Families would benefit from using Quebec as a model because child care would then be affordable to all families in Ontario. A benefit for children is that they would be able to receive quality child care in a safe environment where they will be able to grow, learn and develop. If Ontario’s child care was like Quebec’s it could create more job opportunities as children who might not be in child care would then be placed in child care as it would be more affordable. The community would be able to benefit from the change because more parents would be able to go to work which raise the community’s and the provincial’s standard of living.
