One of - or perhaps the - main reason that Nazanin Ratcliff is in jail is because Britain owes Iran over £400 million.  Our government admits it owes the money but refuses to pay the debt, nor explain why, even though it has been ordered to do so by the International Court and the Appeal Court in the UK. 

So Nazanin stays in jail.

This petition is for a debate in the Commons to question the government over its illegal stance and to force it to honour its debts.

This is not a ransom payment, so there's no guarantee that Nazanin will be released.  However, the money is legally Iran's and, when it is repaid, the prospects of getting Nazanin freed are immeasurably brighter.
