Currently the Grants announced by the Chancellor as on offer to small businesses are only available to those paying business rates (or in receipt of small business rates relief).

Many, many small business occupy premises and simply pay rent, which presumably includes the amount due for rates which are paid by the landlord.

The Government should extend this support to all businesses, in business premises who pay rent. Suppliers to retail shops have seen orders drop off a cliff as the retailers close with so little footfall on the high street.

As an example I sell to High Street dry cleaners and commercial laundries. The dry cleaners have no customers coming into the shop and the laundries, who mostly service Hotels and Restaurants have no demand from their customers either. So while I'm not in retail my business has stopped dead. But my rent of £5000 per quarter, has not.

The Government is helping companies large and small with Grants & staff furloughs etc, and the Self Employed with 80% of wages. While very small (one man band) and vulnerable limited companies who collect Vat and pay Corporation Tax are currently entitled to nothing except a loan, if they can get one.
