I think that animal care standards should be raised as it’s unfair to lock them up for their whole lives without proper enrichment and care.For instance, with small animals like hamsters  I think they should live in a large, natural environment . Owners should re create the enclosure in the best way possible to match their pets native habitat , this will benefit the animals greatly because it will stimulate their brain and encourage natural behaviours . I think the bare minimum for small animal cages should rise, at the minute it is only 450 sq in . This is not nearly big enough for the pet to enjoy themselves and run around  without constantly having to avoid bumping into the sides of the enclosure . The animals should be offered a wide range of toys and ways to exercise. Another thing that needs to change is how many people refuse to take small pets to the vet . They should have the same opportunity to a good quality of life as any other animal. I believe that if owners are found without the proper care for their animals that there should be fines and other punishments . If new laws were put in place for animal rights, all pets could have the life that they deserve .
