Change to Fife Councils policy for people in homeless accomodation

Change to Fife Councils policy for people in homeless accomodation
The Issue
Hi my name is Amanda Mika and I am currently living in temporary homeless accommodation with my husband Craig and three kids, Lauren 7 Kevin 6 and Jayden 2. Back in December 2015 while staying in a private let, our landlord decided to give us our notice to quit TWO days after Christmas so of we went on 5th January to seek help from Fife Council and to explain our situation that we were in. After having 79 days to go before we would be on the streets Fife Council didn't bother to do a thing until the day of having to move out, that being 23rd March, they offered us a temporary house for 12 months, which we understand is the time frame the law states to live in temporary housing. Well after battling with them to be housed sooner because my husband's health is deteriorating badly they have NOW stated to us that we can now be in this Scatter house for another 2-4 years because there is no houses adequately suitable for his needs in the areas we have down. We don't have Methil but was told 'if u put Methil down you could be housed before chridtmas' or 'if you say you will accept Factory Road in Buckhaven we can have your housed sooner' then there was 'well I shouldn't tell you this but the turn over for Leven is two to four year's' ... NOT ON
I have since been told that the rule that's in place with Fife Council is that 'homeless people's isn't entitled to a new build house, which I find utterly disgusting. There shouldn't any rules for homeless and non homeless, we should all be treated equally. Yet to be good that existing tenants go to new builds and homeless get old builds, a house is a house but when someone is adequately housed shouldn't homeless be MORE PRIORITY???. I get people need to be housed to smaller houses to free up bigger houses for bigger families but if Fife Council changed their policy maybe things would be done quicker and better for people who hasn't even asked to be in the situation of being homeless??
So I ask all my friends and family near and far to back me in this petition and sign it's please. Things have to change for eeeeveryone in temporary accommodation not just myself and my family.
Thanks guys x
