We want it to reach the United States Census Bureau, The Government of Canada, The EU, The British Parliament, and so on.
People have a right to identify with their race. I urge all of you, those who have family and friends i the media, any connection at all, PLEASE SHARE THIS PETITION AND POST TO THE MEDIA. We can do it guys. And to those of us who don't have any connections in the media, SHARE THIS ON FACEBOOK, TWITTER, INSTAGRAM, EMAIL, ANYWHERE YOU WANT!
This is our time, and we want to be heard! Help me bring this petition to victory. Tell your friends, and ask them to tell their friends.
FINALLY, be the force for good change in the world. Start by calling your Afro heritage friends African and African American (yes, those are two different things). Some of us want to be called African because we were born in Africa and immigrated to the West, and the rest of us were born in the West. Wherever people were born in, it is our duty to refer to them as such and not a colour; not "black". Do not let people call you "black", and do not call your friends "black". It is disparaging and does not envelop the vast African cultures embedded in you (and them).
And if you call yourself "black", I encourage you to do more research on yourself. You are so much more than just a "colour", you are light and there is space for you. Do not let society brainwash you that there is nothing more to you than just "black". You are multi-dimensional, just like everybody else. You are special and deserve to be recognized and called out for your gifts and talents.
Change your name from "black" to African and/or African American and watch how quick things change for you for the better.
All Africans, and supporters of Africans; must unite to see this petition succeed. So, if you love Africa: The women, the men, the food, the music, the culture SUPPORT AND SHARE THIS PETITION. LET'S GET THE GOVERNMENT TO DO WHAT IS RIGHT AND CHANGE THE TERM "black" TO AFRICAN AND AFRICAN AMERICAN. WE CAN DO IT!
