Time to put an end to this senseless and heartbreaking crime of dog thieving,abusing and killing. These are people's beloved pets, they are our family. Something has got to be done to deter these awful people who have no heart, no consideration for our dogs or us, they are doing ever more despicable things to take them from us. It has to stop now! Give them harsher penalties make it a bigger crime! The law on this has not been updated since 1968. Dogs are classed the same as low value inanimate objects. They are NOT objects they are our living breathing family! The maximum penalty for stealing, abusing or killing a dog is and should be 2 years in prison but these offences only ever result in a fine and a few hours community service as this is  classed as low priority crime. Let's get this changed to jail sentences of 2 years plus. Our dogs belong with us they are our wonderful loving companions.   It is the Government and the courts that have the power to change the punishments for these evil criminals. We are all sick and worried as we are all looking over our shoulders when we take our dogs out for walks now as these people do not care about us ,so they are willing to do anything ,even hurt us just to steal our fur babies.
