I believe it's a fundamental right to own a home. Nowadays, we need a combined income of £60K to afford an average house. First time buyers are struggling to save for 5% of the property, so they're either staying at home with their parents, or renting if they have no one to look after them or maybe their parents aren't able to keep them at home. So the annoying thing is, they can afford to pay the rent (someone else's mortgage) , so they know they can afford an actual mortgage, but to get one is nearly enough impossible if you're an average working person. How is that fair if you want to own a home?! How is it fair that you can afford to own a home, but saving for a deposit while renting is making it impossible? I'm urging every potential first time buyer and anyone who agrees with me to sign this petition to get the government to bring back the 100% mortgage for first time buyers.
