Why this petition matters

Started by Alistair Ridley

Elephant hunting has been banned in Botswana since 2014.

But this is all about to change.
"The government has issued a quota for the killing of 272 elephants in 2020."

The President and locals have their reasons for the change. However, this does not justify the killing of these animals for any price.

At the moment there is little to no consequence to the Botswana economy for killing these animals. There is only an upside for the small towns and villages affected by wildlife conflict, and that can benefit from the money made from selling permits.

With your help we can create the consequence to make the Republic of Botswana reconsider its decision and find an alternative way to deal with the issue.

By signing this petition you let the Botswana Government know that you will not visit Botswana for holidays, tourism, or safari while it is legal to hunt elephants.
