Lift the ban of Serena Williams All-Black bodysuit

Lift the ban of Serena Williams All-Black bodysuit

The Issue

The French Tennis Federation has just confirmed the ban Serena Williams all-black Nike Bodysuit which recently stole the show at the French Open this May in 2018.

Bernard Giudicelli, the French Tennis Federation President says the tournament will be introducing a dress code because, "I think that sometimes we've gone to far... It will not longer be accepted. One must respect the game and the place."

Serena Williams, 23- time Grand Winner, more than any man (Rodger Federer only winning 20) has been limited to express herself on the court. The superhero cat-suit, designer by Nike is a symbolic representation of the athlete. A wonder woman if you will. Quickly recovering from having a beautiful daughter, she is back on the courts in another tournaments, how many women can do that. BBC News said she dedicated the outfit to new mothers and said it made her feel like a "queen from Wakanda" in reference to the Black Panther movie. Therefore, she is a inspiration. Not only is the suit a representation of her personality but its also there to help her health with the build up on blood clots on the court, which she said almost cost her life whilst giving birth.

I belive this is unacceptable. They belive it doesn't have any respect for the game but what about the players? I understand that there is a tradition behind this incredible sport with rules and regulations but why fix what isn't broken. Serena Williams is an inspiration for women not just in sports but for mothers and young girls from around the world. So let her be the wonder woman she is and let her wear the suit!
