The story begins with -

Saint, Neel Giri Maharaj of Juna Akhara, had found the black buck being attacked by dogs on Shulbhanjan Hills  when it was three months old and got separated from the herd in a remote village of Maharashtra. The saints took care of the calf and it mingled with them. Since two years, the deer is living with the saint in the Ghrishneshwar forests of Maharashtra.

The black buck travelled with saint and became an attraction in Simhastha maha kumbh at Ujjain. Later, on conclusion of the Kumbh, it was seized by Madhya Pradesh forest department.

The officials have sent the deer to Ralamandal Sanctuary, Indore. Now the saint is running from pillar to post to get possession of the black buck, which the forest officials categorically say is a violation of Wildlife Protection Act, 1972. He is on a fast-onto-death since 5 days, and says will continue it till he gets the custody of deer back. In his own words- "We named him (deer) Santosh Giri after we found that he followed us around for years. We have never kept him in captivity. "

'Santosh Giri' was fed nearly one kilogram of raisins (kishmish) and salted biscuits every day, the saint claimed adding it will never adjust to life in wild again. The deer too, seemed upset when it was parted from saint.

Even the Court has ordered the forest department to return the deer to the saint. But the forest officials have already sent it to the sanctuary.

Now, I obviously understand the laws and wildlife protection acts and all, but the point here is, since two years, he has been living with the saint, without captivated, and in the forest only. He has specific diets. Will he ever adjust to the wild life, that too without the saint!! I really don't think so.
Secondly, in Ralamandal Sanctuary, there are no black bucks, he is only one of his specie. The deer is attached to the saint, moreover, earlier too, he has been living in the forest only. The deer, I believe won't be able to live without the saint.
Moreover, I read in the newspapers, today only about the killing of another black deer, in madhya pradesh only, so what is the safety of wild animals, even in the forests. Yes I am questioning over the safety of each and every animal in the forest, spare this deer.

So, I request you all to join and sign this petition, to help saint Neelgiri to get the deer back. Yes, I know what the laws are, but then, no laws are greater than humanity. And this case is above the laws on the grounds of humanity and emotions. Being this petition my only power, I request forest officials, to let the saint Neel Giri, have the deer back.
