It is important for women to have access to a custom breast prosthesis, and to be aware of all of their choices and be able to access these choices after undergoing mastectomy or lumpectomy surgery. There should be equal funding for every option. Not every woman wants more breast surgery after having such a drastic surgery performed on their body, and the government is not helping women to pay for this simple option. A breast prosthesis is the only type of prosthesis where custom is not the standard and where funding is so low or non-existent. Lobbying the government to standardize the coverage for custom breast prostheses across the country would greatly assist women who do not wish to go under the knife again and again.
