Still Human in Brighton & Hove
Jan 3, 2017
We have reached over 1000 signatures, each and every one has given Bobby a little more hope that his situation can be resolved. Thank you so much for your support.
The first indications of a council response can possibly be seen in the actions of a local housing advice group, which has been spreading the rumours that Bobby is a liar, thief and bully.
The rumours seem designed to justify what the council have threatened to do: namely withdrawing their care of duty. Bobby's local MP has also suggested this is a possibility.
This would leave Bobby homeless, one of the many rough sleepers on the streets of Brighton & Hove. Only last week one of these poor people had their sleeping bag set on fire and another young gay homeless man was severely beaten by 5 men in our fair city by the sea - just because they could, it seems.
Condemning Bobby to the streets is equivalent to a death sentence. He wouldn't last more than a few days out there.
Your signatures, comments and supports send a clear message to the council that a lot of people would be horrified by what would essentially be a barbaric act.
Please, please share the petition where you can to help us reach as broad a platform as we can for the delivery of the message: ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. Not just for Bobby, but for disabled people all over the UK for whom this callous treatment is all too familiar.
Thank you for your humanity.
The campaign's lengthy rebuttal to the Council supporter's allegations can be found here. https://brightonandhovehousingcrisis.wordpress.com/2016/12/30/a-question-of-expertise/
