The EMS Foundation and Ban Animal Trading South Africa are petitioning Minister Barbara Creecy to free “Charlie” from the confines of the Pretoria zoo. 

These organisations believe that zoos cannot offer elephants the space that they require in order to live as an elephant. 

The elephant exhibition at the Pretoria zoo should be closed permanently. 

The EMS Foundation has offered Charlie the opportunity of being relocated, rehabilitated and rewilded.
