Here is the problem: "Little Caesars Arena."

Here is the solution: "Gordie Howe Arena," or anything else really.

Reason for the petition: 

Hello to all Red Wings, hockey and sports fans. As you all know, the Detroit Red Wings (our favorite team and home of hockey town) is in the process of constructing a new arena to replace the old, beloved and storied Joe Lewis Arena. We all love The Joe; it's been a staple for hockey fans for years, but unfortunately the time has come to move on to bigger and better spaces. Hence the construction of the new arena. Now I understand that we live in the age of commercialism on steroids, with brands and advertisements around every corner, popping up on every app on your smart phone, etc. I also understand the need for advertisements. Apps have to be paid for ("free" isn't free) and companies need to grow their business. All well and good. However there are some things in life that should not be defiled with such unabashed corporate promotion. Hockey Town, the home of the Detroit Red Wings is one of these. 

While we all probably figured that the Ilitches would try and pull some cheesy (no pun intended), lame corporate sponsorship naming scheme, I still held out a small ounce of hope that maybe, just maybe, they'd honor the sacred tradition that is Red Wings hockey. Unfortunately we all now know with certainty that this did not happen. They have taken the name Joe Lewis Arena and carelessly traded it in for a lame corporate logo. This ought not be so. Is nothing sacred!?

Therefore, it is up to us fans, Red Wings Fans, hockey fans, sports fans (yes even you Chicago Blackhawks fans), to try and save the name of the new hockey town before it's too late. 

We are proposing that the new arena for the Detroit Red Wings be called the Gordie Howe Arena. This not only honors the legendary Red Wing but hockey fans the world over. And if not "Gordie Howe Arena" then at least something else that's actually hockey/sports related, NOT "Little Caesars Arena" *shudder*.
