In the course of the last 15 years I have worked closely with the families and friends of people who have been killed in a Western Australian mine for my research for the Eastern Goldfields Miners Memorial in Kalgoorlie WA. Without exception everyone one of them would like to have the name of their loved one or friend included in the DMP Annual Report after all  of the formalities have been concluded. After enquiries I was told by the DMP that the relatives do not want the names published. This is just not the case. I want these people to be 'Not Just A Number', one lady wrote a book with this very title after the death of her husband.  In my opinion the names are not published as a way of de personalising the deaths.
