This Petition is an effort to Create “Pawsitive🐾” change for the Animals of Elizabethtown KY & it’s People. I ask that you sign this Petition & Support bringing a 24 hr Animal Hospital/Facility to Elizabethtown KY & its surrounding areas.

How many “furry friends” have been lost in Elizabethtown, KY due to the fact that there IS NO animal care facility open past 6 p.m.? If (or) When something happens to your beloved fur friend after 6 p.m. your closest and basically only option is an hour away in Louisville, KY. 



Animals, just like humans, unfortunately DO NOT get to CHOOSE time & place to experience health issues & problems. Just like Humans…Sometimes things happen. How many “Furry Family Friends & Members” has Elizabethtown, KY lost over the years on the desperate grueling dash journey to Louisville, KY? 



*Friday March 27th, 2025 I lost My Best Friend CHEWIE :

I work overnights & I started my Friday like most Fridays waking up just after 5:30 pm. When I got downstairs I noticed Chewie (my cat) breathing funny on the couch. His breathing appeared stressed? I took a 20 second video & sent the video to a very good Vet Tech we know in Louisville asking if I need to rush him somewhere? The Vet Tech Replied “YES!” I do not know how long Chewie was on the couch in that state? I had just woke up to start my day. I can tell you that in that moment, Chewie was still calm & collected. He was still Chewie. Out of Love and Respect for Chewie… There is no after video because after about 20 mins of driving Chewie’s demeanor took a drastic change for the worse & who can blame him you know? He’s Terrified & His Breathing is compromised. He’s fighting for his life. Nobody needs to see that.

I quickly googled nearest animal hospital…
the ONLY PLACE OPEN IS ELIZABETHTOWN ANIMAL HOSPITAL & is 5 minutes away from where we live & closes in 15 minutes.

 I called Elizabethtown Animal Hospital to tell them “WE’RE ON OUR WAY!” & They turned Chewie away?  Elizabethtown Animal Hospital told me NOT to come there because “WE ARE CLOSING IN 15 MINUTES.”

My heart sank!!

I’m sorry Chewie, You can’t go into Respiratory distress because all the animal caregivers go home at 6. You need to choose a better time to have an emergency situation.

 Somehow, Chewie survived the hour dash to Louisville. However, to much damage had been done & there was absolutely nothing else left to do. We lost the Centerpiece of our Cat Family & Family. Chewie was the glue that held it all together. A true Pack Leader. A Cat with too many Dogish tendencies. A beautiful soul that did not deserve the tortuous dash to Louisville KY.

We moved to Elizabethtown, KY in Late August 2023 from Virginia & our animals were all good on their care, shots, etc. & They’re heathy happy playful Cats and there was just no need to rush to set them up with a vet so NO we are not Clients (or) customers of Elizabethtown Animal Hospital however after experiencing them refusing my best friend Chewie, in HIS time of need, the likelihood of “EAH” getting future business from us is a NO. 

I am asking all of you animal lovers & pet owners & anyone else in Elizabethtown & surrounding areas to sign this PETITION In favor of a 24HR Animal Hospital. When you sign you are ACKNOWLEDGING that YES we are in need of our own facility even if it’s one of our current Vet clinics that decides to change it’s hours of operation to accommodate later hours.

If I had the Money & (or) Power to build my own 24 hr animal facility I would do it myself. The problem with that is that unfortunately I DO NOT know how to fix animal health issues. I just know how to love animals & love can only go so far. I loved Chewie with all of my heart & being but it wasn’t enough to keep him here with us. We needed help. With that said, I honestly do not know if this petition will lead to a 24 hour animal facility or even some kind of after hours program in Elizabethtown, but if anything, maybe it will spark some awareness and get the right people talking & Hopefully we can gain some ground on this issue and score some kind of Win for all of the Animals in Elizabethtown.
